Village Ice Cream

Looking for something that tastes like magic?  Go to the Village Ice Cream shop.   This is the kind of treat that everybody needs when you're out and about while enjoying a beautiful day.  Of course if you are more of a night person such as a shape-shifter for example, this would be a great place to take the one you love on a romantic night out.  Especially since the atmosphere is so natural and comfortable that it is bound to put even the most nervous of daters at ease.  In this lovely little shop, they make all their ice cream right in the store from scratch.  I tell you that is the only way to go.  After all there is something for everybody of every taste.

Here is a list of suggestions for what you my readers might like:

  • Fairies - Hibiscus Sorbet or Honey Lavender
  • Elves - Guide's Mint
  • Mermaids - Salted Caramel
  • Sirens - Toasted Coconut
  • Dragon Riders - Cardamom
  • Shape-Shifters (aka Werewolves) - Phil and Sebastian Coffee
  • Enchanters - Two Hills Earl Grey
  • Zombies - Rocky Road
  • Spirits -Village Vanilla Bean
  • Angels - Strawberry
  • Aliens - Strawberry with Coconut Milk
  • Gods - Maple Walnut
  • Everyone - Melted Chocolate
  • Vampires - Ask for a suggestion box.  There is nothing in there with blood in it.

Now when I went I was feeling decadent.  So I decided to order a sundae with everything.  When you ask for a sundae with everything that includes; ice cream of your choice, hot fudge sauce, pecans, whipped cream and a cherry on top.

I followed the sweet-natured store clerk's advice and took the salted caramel ice cream and I tell you, she was right.  It was AWESOME!  I felt myself go into a wonderful euphoria with the tastes of salty, sweet, creamy and chocolaty all rolled into one fabulous bite.  There is only one word to describe it all and that is ...magic.

There are three locations but I went to the one in Britannia Plaza.  Here is the address and phone number.  Go there and enjoy the magic.

Go Flames Go!

No, this is not a post for a fire spell.  This is a post about what many in this realm (most especially Canadians) take pride in.  Hockey.  Tonight the Calgary Flames are taking on the Vancouver Canucks for the Stanely Cup.  Like us in the Nether Realm, humans love their sports.  Since I consider myself a Calgarian, I am rooting for the Flames.  To my opinion, they are the best team in the National Hockey League (NHL) and understandably some would disagree.

Now no matter who you are, its always good to keep your nose and your ears towards sports in this world.  Humans love to talk about them and if you know how to talk to humans its easier to blend in even make some friends.  It's not a chore, infact it can be alot of fun and you can really enjoy yourself.

Now back to the Calgary Flames.  These men have won six games so far and lost three but I still have high hopes for them tonight.  Their stats are excellent and their team is very tight knit.  They are a strong hockey team with a good chance of making it.

So as we would all say back in the Nether World, "Play for fun, play for honor and shoot for the stars."

If you are a lover of hockey or the Calgary Flames please feel free to comment.  If you're not please comment anyway and tell me what your favorite team is and why.  I would love to hear from you.

Never-the-less, good luck Calgary Flames.  I'm cheering for you guys tonight.

What's the best wine ever?... It's obvious

Many people have asked me what is your preference when it comes to wine?  My response.  All wine!  It's true but I will say I can not help but enjoy a bottle of Barefoot wine.

This is a lovely brand from Modesto, California.  They make a fun, sunny and flavorful wine that brings out the goodness in all things related to the Earth Realm.  It is good for any occasion and just happens to be easy on the wallet.  Now all of these wines are good but I find myself always reaching for the moscato.  Yes, the moscato.  It is a sexy little wine that has some very delicious fruity notes and a sweet citrusy taste that brings you back to paradise.

If you are to pair this wine, here is a few marvelous suggestions.  A herbacious cheese such as dill havarti, a spicy pasta, raspberries, a rich belguim chocolate and sweet potato fries.  Now I've just made myself hungry and pining for this wine even more.  Seriously though wine lovers, get yourself this lovely little wine, sit outside and look out at a beautiful sunset.  It gives you that wonderful sense of romance that everyone (human or otherwise) should have.  You have this when you have a bottle of barefoot moscato.

And since this is a wine post I want to give a shout out to my friend Nick.  He is an oenophile vampire who owns his own vineyard and yes I urge you all to try it even though he often disagrees with me on everything!  To you my sweet, suave friend, I say, "Bite me!"

The Good Witch

Looking for a little insight on how magic works here in the Earth Realm?  Well a wonderful show called the "Good Witch" which is featured on the Hallmark Channel is a perfect example of what magic is here in the Earth Realm.

This show it about a mysterious, free-spirited and kind-hearted woman named Cassandra Nightingale (Played by Catherine Bell).  Many people believe her to be a witch and noone truly knows for sure whether she is or not.  But one thing is for sure is that she knows how to work her magic to help others.  It is possible here in this world to have magic.  It is just a little harder.  You need an open and kind heart, a positive attitude, and the strength to persevere even when everything seems to crumble down around you.  That is the key to magic here in this realm.

Anyway back to the show.  Cassie owns a kurio/botanical shop called the Bell, Book and Candle which contains all kind of oddities that help people in many different ways.  She also owns a Bed and Breakfast called Grey House which is also her home and reputed to be haunted.  Pretty cool yes?  Here's where it gets better, she also has an uncanny knack for knowing what people need and what happens to those around her.  This is how she helps them.  But sometimes this enchanting woman needs help too and that is where her family and friends in the fictional town of Middleton come to play.  With their own gifts or even just their love, they give her what she needs the most.  A family.  She brings out the magic in them and they all become a unified community.

I'm not ashamed to say that I hope to do what Cassie does for other people.  It is important to help others.  This show inspires me and I hope it will inspire all of you too.  There are many words to describe what this show gives to us.  Some would say hope, others probably say entertainment but I say it gives us magic.  And now who says that we mystics can't do the same thing in this world?

PS.  It's not just a TV series, Check out the movies too.  It's how the magic all begins.

Crystal Balls: They Work!!!

Good news fellow mystics.  I know some of you are having trouble adjusting to this realm because we can not work our tools the same way here as we can in the Nether Realm.  But my latest discovery will give you a new hope.  Crystal balls.  That's right they work here!  The only thing is it might take just a bit longer to see the images you are looking for.  As we all know divining takes alot of meditation, concentration and yes even a little magic.  If you are good at these things back at home, believe me, you will make it work here.  Now here is what you do.

  1. Set your Crystal ball to charge in the sunlight and/or moon light (Depends what you are) for 24 hours
  2. Take your Crystal ball to a quiet place where you will not be interrupted.
  3. Keep your question in mind as gaze into the crystal ball.
  4. Be patient and concentrate on your Crystal ball with your question.  Notice that images will appear.  I'd advise you to write down what you see.
  5. When you are finished, Charge it again for next time.

The next part is up to you and what your question was.  Search and find or Leave it and Let it go.  What ever your choice is that is what you do.  So there you have it folks.  A little piece of home right here in the Earth Realm.  I will continue to keep you posted and you will not need a Crystal ball to know that's true.

Hot Chocolate to Heat the Soul

Need something to warm you up on a dreary day?  Want a really good treat that lifts you up?  Try out this out.  This wonderful concoction will make you feel good, give you energy and boost your immunity as a bonus.

Here's what you need:

Depending on your preferance -> 1/2 to 1 milk chocolate bar (You can use any bar you want but I prefer lindt swiss chocolate)
1 cup of milk (or soy milk depending on your preference)
1 cinnamon stick
a pinch of chili pepper

Why do we need these ingredients?

Chocolate:  Chocolate has some good antioxidents in it but lets face it, it cures you if you are ever feeling down.  Plus if you are apart of the Faye Clan it'll recharge every part of your body including your magical powers.

Milk:  Rich with Vitamns A, B, B12, D as well as protien, calcium and a great number of things.  Milk is pretty much what keeps our bodies working and reduces alot of painful, deadly diseases like diabetes, cancer and anything bone related.  It keeps us all strong no matter who you are.  (Vampires are the exception.)

Cinnamon:  Excellent anti-inflammatory.  Cinnamon prevents alot of diseases including colds, flus and colon cancer.  Not only does this completely detoxes your body but magically speaking it will protect you, attract money or spice up your love life.  A very good all-around spice to have.

Chili Pepper:  They put you in a good mood, help with weight loss and fight off infections.  What's not to like?  Plus this will get rid of any nasty curses that someone might put on you.  A word of caution!!!!, only use a small amount otherwise you'll never be able to drink it and it burns your mouth from the inside out.

How to make it:
  1. Break up the milk chocolate and put into a coffee cup.
  2. Add milk into the coffee cup
  3. Heat in the microwave for __ for 3 or 4 intervals (every microwave is different so adapt this to your own microwave)
  4. After you retrieve your chocolate/milk mixture from the microwave, put in your chili pepper and stir it in with your cinnamon stick.  Leave the cinnamon stick in it.
  5. Enjoy!

Good Luck Charms - Pysanka (Egg)

Well folks, Easter has past and you know what that means?  Yes the fertility festival back in the Nether Realm is coming up!   We all remember the dancing in the streets, the beautiful spring flowers everywhere (especially when we use them as confetti), The street preformers entertaining us and the music.  Oh the music, I miss hearing all those flutes and drums.  I'm very upset that I have to miss it this year.  It's a shame!

To make up for it this year I celebrated Easter with some human friends of mine.  There's no dancing here but there is feasting, and visiting with others.  Yes there is drinking too and the wine is fantastic!  Easter, like our Fertility Festival, is about spring, renewal, new beginnings and is generally about being grateful for what you have.  Its the best of both worlds!

We also share a symbol with the humans and that is the Pysanka Eggs.  Brought to us by our friends from the Ukraine, these eggs are everwhere.  They are considered a symbol of birth, fertility, spring, good luck and frankly just good eating.  I recommend carrying a small pysanka-like object with you.  Take a look at what they look like.

Get one of these to keep out evil spirits, to avoid being struck by lightning, to make sure a fire doesn't start in your house and just keeping a general catastrophe away from you and anyone around you.  Now if you sense that there is a demon around, get a pysanka with swirls on it because those nasty pieces of shit will be trapped in there for all eternity.  The only problem with that is, you have to secure pysanka because you never now where an evil mage is lurking around to steal it.

If they get it, these nutzos will use every trick in the book to try and sicken you.  Remember the punks that wrecked our milk production for our Fertility Festival in 1882?  This is minor in comparison to the havoc brought by these evil mages.  The diseases they can give you, leave you in a very weak state of being.  Sure they only work during the spring but their value during that spring is BIG!!!  So best to keep that Pysanka close during spring and under lock n' key for the rest of the year.  Watch your lucky charm folks, it could save your life.
